Evaluation Approach

My approach to evaluation is grounded in developing genuine and honest relationships that allow me to act as a critical friend. My role as an evaluator is to collect evidence that helps programs improve their processes and tell the story of their impact. This often involves highlighting program achievements and successes, but can also involve difficult conversations about areas where programs are struggling to meet their objectives. These conversations can only happen when my clients know that I care about their perspectives and the work they do.

Specific evaluation strategies are determined by the needs and expectations of my client. I find the following tool helpful for guiding preliminary conversations:
